Email the Photographer for a 'Quote' - Provide the Following Information:

Where is the Photography to Take Place? Ensuring the perfect location is vital for capturing extraordinary shots. If your photography session involves access to a specific area or a third-party location, let us know so we can negotiate the arrangements for you.

When is the Photography to Take Place? Consider the season, weather, and time of day when scheduling your session. These factors can significantly impact the outcome of your photos. We'll work with you to find the ideal timing for your shoot, taking into account the lighting conditions and the overall ambiance you desire.

When is the Photography Deadline Date? Whether your deadline is approaching or months away, we'll help you plan accordingly. Keep in mind that natural light can vary throughout the year, so scheduling outdoor shoots between May and October often yields the best results. Trust us to select the optimal timing for your exterior photography needs.

What is the Subject? Understanding your subject is essential to produce outstanding photographs. Share reference shots and research images that reflect your preferred style. We allocate sufficient time for each subject, considering factors like size, complexity, and the need for additional setup or waiting time.

What is the Final Use of the Photographs? Communicate your intended use for the photos, whether it's for print, websites, or social media. Different platforms may require specific dimensions and resolutions, and we'll ensure your images are optimized for each purpose.

What is the Resolution Needed of the Final Use of the Photos? Printed materials demand higher resolution images than those used on the internet. We will capture your photos in the appropriate resolution to ensure they look stunning both on screens and in print.

What Sort of Post-Production is Needed? Our photographers primarily shoot in RAW format, granting us greater flexibility in post-processing. If you have specific preferences regarding shadows, brightness, or backgrounds, let us know, and we'll tailor the editing to your desired style.

What is the Budget? We understand the importance of working within a budget. If you provide us with a list of priority shots and flexibility in scheduling, we can often offer more competitive quotes. For extended projects or outdoor shoots, we're open to visiting the site multiple times to capture the perfect lighting conditions.

Biographical Information

Andrew Findlay, Photographer

Andrew Findlay is a renowned photographer and artist, born in Carlisle, Cumbria, in 1966. Growing up in the outskirts of Carlisle, he spent his childhood days playing and fishing in the local countryside. Findlay's parents, James, a mechanical engineer, and Doreen, a secretary, worked hard to raise their four sons, creating a bustling and supportive environment.
Despite struggling to fit in at school due to shyness and possibly dyslexia, Andrew's love for nature blossomed during his solitary childhood. Taking long walks in the Caldew Valley and fly-fishing in the River Caldew and River Eden became his passion. At the age of eleven, he taught himself to draw and paint, and by 1987, art became an integral part of his life, leading him to pursue a career as a Graphic Reproduction Artist.
His job as a Graphic Reproduction Artist at Metal Box provided structure and discipline to his youth, influencing his later photography work. However, his true calling emerged during a photography class he joined as part of his training. Fascinated by the art, he decided to study photography at Blackpool, which marked a turning point in his life.
Andrew Findlay's life became coloured by the Lake District National Park, where he found solace and inspiration. His first fully visualized photograph, "Ullswater Boats," was featured in Commercial Union's 1992 Calendar, catapulting his photography career. Kodak's commission to photograph the Germany section of their 1992 calendar further boosted his confidence and passion for photography.
In the early 2000s, Findlay's star rose rapidly as a commercial photographer. His clients ranged from various industries, including Jack Wolfskin, Kodak, CGU, West Cumberland Farmers, and more. Known for his technical mastery and application of the complex "zone system," Andrew's energy and dedication were unparalleled. He saw himself as a communicator, constantly seeking new commissions to convey messages through his photographs.
Andrew Findlay's work aimed to showcase the sublime magnificence of commerce, infusing emotional depth into business images. He became an unremitting activist for Cumbrian business photography, hoping that his images would serve as symbols of the region's business community.
With a relentless passion for photography and artistry, Andrew Findlay continues to inspire and create images that leave a lasting impact on viewers.
